Arutperunjothi
By the boundless grace and great compassion of Arutperunjothi Andavar (the Lord of Supreme Grace-Light), and with the continued wholehearted support of kind, compassionate souls, meals are served on banana leaves three times a day, morning, noon and night, at Nithya Deepa Dharmachalai in Velachery, Chennai. Together with several village Dharmachalais across Tamil Nadu, we continue to relieve the hunger of about 2500 people who come to us every day.
- 2500people fed every day
- 154regular monthly donors
- ₹6,000sponsors 1 day of roadside meals
Mobile Dharmachalai
In addition, through our mobile Dharmachalai, a Tata Ace vehicle (Food on Road; Meals on Wheels), our community service… our service of compassion… continues without a break: we hurry out and search for the helpless poor (the elderly, mothers, the differently-abled, children and people with mental illness) living by the roadside, under bridges, in subways, at bus stops, in the shade of trees and on pavements in Velachery, Taramani, Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Besant Nagar, Mylapore, Sai Baba Temple, Kutchery Road, Pattinapakkam and Santhome, and hand them food parcels, water bottles and bananas.
We have attached a short video clip of food being distributed from the mobile Dharmachalai.
Deepam joyfully salutes and bows to its 154 regular monthly donors who give in charity to relieve people's hunger, and to the Deepam sevadigal (volunteers) who serve tirelessly without rest.
Let us serve!
Let us live long!
Let us give in charity!
Let us live with compassion!
