God is more pleased when we fill a poor person's stomach than when we fill a temple's offering box.
Dear compassionate souls,
By divine grace and the Guru's grace, walking the Sanmarga path, Deepam Trust, Velachery, Chennai, carries out the daily work of relieving people's hunger as an act of Jeeva Karunyam (compassion for all living beings) and Aanma Neyam (love for all souls), feeding 2500 people every day through its various village Dharmachalais (charity kitchens).
- 200+daily-wage workers served herbal kanji each morning
- 2500people fed every day
- 154regular monthly donors
Every day at around 7 am, at the Thandeeswaram Road junction in Velachery, herbal kanji (rice porridge) with thuvaiyal (a ground chutney) is served from our Tata Ace vehicle to more than 200 daily-wage workers who gather there each morning waiting for the day's work.
Today, hot and tasty musumusukkai herbal kanji was served.
The herbal kanji is served every day by the kind hands of Mr. Aadalarasu, a retired CC Bank manager and the founder of the Uzhavarappani (temple-cleaning service).
Heartfelt thanks to Deepam's 154 regular, permanent monthly donors, whose continuous compassionate giving lends steadfast support to all of Deepam's charitable work and Annadhanam (free food service).
With compassion…
